Voice and Value

Strategies for Behavioral, Advocacy, and Partnership

In collaboration with departments within Denver Public Schools and FACE University, the Behavior Barriers Team will be hosting a series of trainings designed to open the dialogue between parents and educators to support parents in developing a deeper understanding of behavior and the educational system so they are best equipped to navigate it, as their child’s/children’s primary advocate. Parents will learn to use look for's during conversations with school teams to support their child and the school with developing strategies to address behavior, discipline, and safety.

Health and Wellness

Health-focused resources, education, awareness and training

Community, Research, Education and Awareness (CREA) Results and Denver Public Schools are working together to offer access to health-focused resources, education, awareness and training for DPS Families. Each month, we will focus on a new health related concept, which will include videos, written content, and all culminating in a “live” online workshop where you will interact directly with our health trainers. Join us each month to learn more about: Dental Health, Physical Health, Nutrition, Mental Health and Social Emotional Care, and COVID - 19.

Title I Family Engagement

Title I is a part of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) which provides financial assistance to local educational agencies and schools with high numbers or high percentages of children from low-income families to help ensure that all children meet challenging state academic standards. All Title I schools are required to spend part of their federal funds to support parent activities to improve academic achievement. Each school is required to hold an annual parent meeting to explain what steps the school is taking to improve performance.
